Three (and a half) Big Stories

 

Looks like there’s three really big stories today:

-1) No one has any idea when, or if, baseball will return. Or, for that matter, what it might look like if it does return.

-2) Russia is taking over the Ukraine without invading, leaving the idiot Biden completely flummoxed. Like he wasn’t already…..

-3) The spoiled child of a Canadian head of state cannot get enough of his emergency powers.

And then there’s this…..I’ll celebrate President’s Day again if we ever get an actual president.

I was an MP in the U.S. Army, and later a law enforcement officer for both the city of Santa Rosa, California, and the county of Sonoma, California. I retired from public service after over 30 years in the business. Turned out that I still needed to work, so I'm a security officer in private industry. I have a private investigator's license and have done some of that work, but I discovered, much to my dismay, that while I am really quite competent at the work, I'm a crappy businessman. My Addled Mind-Set

  One of the many things that addle me is this: Why do so many really wealthy people—like actors, and athletes, and politicians, and dot-com millionaires, and TV pundits/talking heads…...etc—Who didn’t really work very hard for their wealth, and have the capitalist system to thank for their, well, unearned wealth….. Well, why do they all seem to become socialists? How come is that?? Except for the ones who have become commies, of course….. Ya’ know, I used to capitalize words like communist and socialist and such, but quit doing that when the lefties began the practice of capitalizing every ethnicity other than white, which is habitually written in lower case. On a related note, why is it do you s’pose that coastal big cities have overwhelming crime and bums on the street? Not that I have any answers—I just have questions.

ROKU Error 014--No connection to WiFi (Even though it found your Network!!)

I cut the cable quite a while ago.  Not that I gave up on the cable company itself--I have Xfinity now, but I've had others in the past.  Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, beats cable WiFi.  And I don't much want to hear your mealy-mouth about the alternatives either.. I've got a ROKU box attached to every TV in the house that's not a ROKU TV.  I've had them for a long time and have upgraded on occasion.  I now have two ROKU 3's in the mix, and they occasionally have trouble connecting to my network, even though they have found the network and listed it. Every time that happened, I did the dance that we all do, given the circumstances:  Re-boot the ROKU.  Let it cool off.  Curse.  Put the WiFi password in again. Try connecting to the only open network in the neighborhood. Remove and replace the memory card. Curse again.
